  • ASIA KHATUN

    Asia Khatun is a poet and founder of online literary platform for BIPOC creatives and writers Thawra. She received a BA (Hons) in English and Creative Writing and has since worked on making the literary scene more inclusive and accessible, whilst championing minority voices and shedding light on socio-political injustices through her writing and her career in journalism and publishing. With a British Bengali Muslim background, she discusses facets of diasporic culture, generational trauma and spirituality within her debut pamphlet Waterlogged.

  • FARHIN AFZA

    Farhin Afza is a multi-media artist from India. As a member of the Ansari weaving caste, she draws immensely from her family's heritage in the clothing business, weaving together narratives of tradition, domesticity, and belonging. Farhin's art serves as a resistance against power, challenging dominant narratives and advocating for marginalized voices for which she has coined the term 'Art from Below'.

  • HARUN AL RASHID MOLLAH

    Harun Al Rashid Mollah is a multi-disciplinary artist from West Bengal, India. His practice is deeply rooted in cultural heritage and experiences that have shaped his identity. ‘Tears of Tolerance’ navigates the aftermath of the 'Haldwani Riots' 2024, which erupted when the town's municipal authorities carried out demolitions of a mosque and school. This incident is one of many demolitions being carried out against minority Muslim-owned properties in India and is believed to be politically motivated.

  • IMAM HABIB KHAN

    An award-winning Imam, Habib Khan has studied vastly in the UK and Egypt completing an MSc in Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Edinburgh and an MA in International Human Rights Law at the American University in Cairo. He is the founder of The Muslim Perspective - a research and consultancy firm offering tailored services to Muslims and the wider community. He is also an aspiring Self-development Islamic Life Coach having recently established The Sidi Mindset.

  • MALIK IRTIZA

    Malik Irtiza is an artist from Kashmir who’s work delves into themes of language, memory, history, and daily life in conflict-stricken areas. She incorporates folklore, storytelling, and local histories while acknowledging the inherent challenges in articulating an enforced and fragmented time.

  • MIRIAM ALI

    Miriam Ali (b.1998) is a photographer and visual artist based in Glasgow, UK. Her practice focuses on themes of identity, religion, and home, often using elements of poetry and textiles. Since graduating from the BA(hons) photography course at City of Glasgow College in 2021, she has been part of multiple heritage projects involving curatorial and photography roles. Her project Ever Alive was built on a one word brief, ‘flux’, through the New Photographers Guild, a programme created for recent photography graduates. Ever Alive is a short video installation which highlights Palestinian resistance and the fight for Palestinian liberation, using the poem Ever Alive by the late Palestinian poet, Fadwa Tuqan.

  • UFAQ FATIMA

    Ufaq Fatima is a documentary photographer, and writer from Kashmir. Her visual discourse is an intersection of her personal narratives, intersecting with elements of resistance, faith and gender. She has earlier worked as a multimedia journalist and researcher as well. Fatima is a fellow alumnus at VII Academy, 2024. She holds a Masters degree in Journalism and Mass communication. She is also a founding member of Her Pixel Story, a growing women photo collective from Kashmir.

  • FATHIMA ZAHRA

    Fathima Zahra is an Indian poet and performer based in London. Her poems have won the Bridport Prize, Asia House Poetry Slam and Wells Fest Poetry Prize. She has performed at festivals across the country including Hah, Latitude and Last Word. ‘sargam / swargam’ (ignitionpress, 2021) is her debut pamphlet.

  • AKRAM ALASHQAR

    Akram Alashqar is a Palestinian filmmaker and educator hailing from Tulkarm in the West Bank. His films include First Picture (2006), Red, Dead, and Med. (2006), Paper War (2007), and he produced Five Boys and a Wheel (2016).

    For over 10 years, he has served as a film and media faculty member at several Palestinian universities.

    Currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Glasgow, Alashqar's research focuses on the aesthetics and significance of soundtracks in Palestinian cinema.

  • HANEEN HADIY

    Celebrating the beauty and culture of Iraq through a close engagement with the date palm, the determined and devoted attention of Haneen Hadiy's painting and photography seeks to challenge misconceptions and dominant cultural narratives about Iraq. Positing the date palm as having nurtured civilization, the trees appear again and again in Haneen's work, embodying a reciprocal relationship with the land, helping us think outside the framework of the human to understand the integral connections that exist between societies and the natural world. The majesty and beauty of the date palms are rendered carefully across her body of work, her photographs intimate and evocative, capturing fine details illuminated in golden fading sunlight that are contrasted with strong silhouetted shadows. Haneen's ink depictions of the trees are painted using palm fronds, closing a loop in which the trees are inspiration, tool and final representation.

    Raheela Suleman (b. 1996) is a London-based writer and director. She explores Islamic Mysticism, Existentialism & The Unseen in both her written and visual work. Her films have screened at Tate Britain, ICA, BFI, Genesis Cinema, All Points East Festival 2018, P21 Gallery & LUX Moving Image. She is an alumna of Other Cinemas Film School, Barbican Young Poets & Chisenhale Gallery. Her film, 'SABR, (2023), premiered at the London Short Film Festival 2024 & screened at ICO Spring Screening.

    Jamal Mehmood is a writer and filmmaker based in London. He works across poetry, short fiction and essays. His work has appeared on BBC4, Popula and Magma and he has been shortlisted for the Outspoken Prize for Poetry in Film. His latest book ‘The Leaf of the Neem Tree’ is published by Hajar Press.

    Fiza Zainab Khan is a skilled graphic designer specializing in branding and marketing for various brands. With a background in sociology and a postgraduate degree in visual arts from India, Fiza brings a unique perspective to her design work.

    As a designer, Fiza believes that research and ideation are the foundations of any successful project. Her ideal projects are those that challenge her to create something novel, not just in design but in concept, blending traditional elements with a sense of belonging to different time periods or cultures.

    Samah Ayesha (b.1999) is a socially engaged curator dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices and advocating for social justice through the arts. With a background in Fine Art and Social Work, she brings with her experience in curatorial practice, community engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Samah is also a member of Religions for Peace Youth Committee India and through her advocacy work has spoken as a representative at various international events.
